Questions and answers

The questions neighbors ask most. Don't see yours? Call or text (802) 526-6220 or email admin@friendlyfuelclub.com.

Do I have to switch dealers?

Not if you already buy from one of the club's partner dealers. Members get the member price only from partner dealers, and a partner dealer's existing customers get it too, with no waiting period. If your dealer isn't a partner, you'd switch to get the member price. (Reserving a founding spot or getting our price emails doesn't change how you buy fuel at all.)

What if I'm on a pre-buy or budget plan?

Pre-buy and budget plans are offered and held by your dealer, never by the club. The club never holds money for fuel.

I only use propane for cooking. Should I join?

Probably not. The club is built for households that heat with oil, kerosene or propane. If propane is only for your stove or water heater, you likely won't use enough to make the fee worthwhile.

What does it cost?

Membership is $49 a year per household and covers every heating fuel at your address. A second property is $20 a year more. Households on fuel assistance join free. People who sign up before memberships open, then join in the first month they're open, pay the founding rate: $19 your first year, then the regular $49. Only people on the list get it. The price list and price alerts are free for everyone.

What does signing up get me?

It's free and commits you to nothing. Right away you can set price alerts and a reminder before your next fill. You also get the founding rate, which only people on the list get: $19 your first year, then the regular $49, if you join in the first month memberships are open. There's no limit on founding members. When memberships open, we'll email you your code.

When can I join?

When the club launches. We'll email everyone who reserved a spot as soon as membership opens.

Will I save money?

That's the idea. Member prices are being worked out with local dealers now. Once they're set, you'll be able to compare them with every other price on our list. We can't promise a specific saving.

Is Friendly Fuel Club a fuel dealer?

No. The club doesn't sell, deliver or bill for fuel, and never holds money for fuel. Dealers do the delivering and billing. The club is funded by members' yearly fees and takes nothing per gallon from dealers.

Where do your prices come from?

From our Tuesday calls to local dealers, prices dealers report to us, and the Vermont and New Hampshire state price surveys. Every price shows its date and source, and prices are always sorted low to high. How we collect prices has the details.

Is my information shared?

We never sell it. We may tell dealers how many households in a town are interested in the club, but not who. Once you join, the dealer you choose gets what it needs to deliver your fuel. See our privacy policy.

How do I stop emails or texts?

Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, or reply STOP to any text. You can also call, text or email us and we'll take you off.

Can I text you a question?

Yes. Text or call (802) 526-6220 about prices, the site or the club. I read and answer every message myself. Texting us doesn't sign you up for anything.

Where do you operate?

Windsor and Orange counties in Vermont, and Grafton and Sullivan counties in New Hampshire. Find your town.

Membership terms are being finalized. Full member terms will be posted before anyone pays a fee.
